Last Friday we were finally ready to go. The cars were loaded up at the NYK line at the Ceres grounds in Amsterdam. The T-ford was put onto the trailer and the following car brought up the rear and we set off to the port!

There were a lot of sponsors and volunteers there to see us. The weather was fantastic and it felt like a real social occasion.

Simon Koch of NYK line gave us a warm welcome.

At the port grounds, Rob Franken from Van der Tol gave a speech on behalf of the sponsors. He also explained that he had set up a competition for his employees and business contacts. The person who manages to guess the number of kilometres driven the most accurately will win a weekend away in Paris!

The children of De Nieuwe School handed over a cheque to the value of 650 + 49.96 euros as their contribution for the children in Mongolia. The children had managed to raise this money by doing odd jobs and collecting!

Liza Mulder presented a painting by her mother Els Wiegel. We will take this painting to the school in Mongolia where it will be displayed in a prominent place in the building.

The ’straddle carrier’ then set down the container

The van was driven in.

There was not much space to get out!

And then, the T-Ford was loaded.

The mayor of Edam, Mr van Beek, ceremonially closed the container, wishing the cars and the team members a good trip.

Here’s to a good trip!

The container was lifted up and taken to the ship.

Saskia from Save the Children was pleased that the trip had finally started! And we were on our way to China!
